Slovanský Dům

Slovanský Dům

As we know it today, has a history full of changes. It dates back to 1697, when it was built in the Baroque style and was known as Vernierov Palace. A century later its appearance changed and it underwent Neo-classicist renovations designed by the architect František Heger. From 1897 until the end of World War II it served as the cultural and political centre of the Prague Germans. It housed a casino, a luxury restaurant and a large French-style garden. The newly renovated space of the Large and Small Halls, as well as the Large Gallery and foyer, are again available for use.
