Czech Museum of Music

Czech Museum of Music

The location of the Czech Museum of Music is in the former Baroque church of St. Maria Magdalena in Mala Strana, built in the 17th century according to a project by Francesco Caratti. The unusual symbiosis of early Baroque church architecture with classicist utilitarian redevelopment and newly finished redevelopment for the music museum offers an impressive combination of monumentality and detail to visitors. The collection of musical instruments including the total of 3000 pieces is the largest one in the Czech Republic and one of the most significant ones in Europe. Apart from musical instruments, applied in the exposition are also picture, manuscripts and prints of sheets of music.
